The Planets

Inspired by looking through a telescope at Sydney Observatory — illuminated spheres of the Sun, Moon, and planets bringing cosmic scale into civic space.

First shown at Circular Quay for NYE 1999/2000, then Darling Harbour, Jones Bay Wharf, Cirque du Soleil Alegría Sydney, Hollywood Cinerama Dome, Mt Wilson Observatory (Mars installation with NASA Mars rover project support), Aquarium of the Pacific (12-metre Earth for Earth Week), New Mexico Space Museum (X-Prize Cup — with Virgin Galactic and SpaceX context), Vancouver Library Square (IAC 2004), Beijing, and more — including Earth Ceremony community moments.

Beijing Green · Melbourne Green

A four-year program designed to illuminate public buildings and celebrate the beauty of Earth and the fragile environment in Beijing. Matthew produced and managed the program — illuminating the Forbidden City and the Australian Embassy in Beijing, turning the Millennium Monument green, presenting a ceremony with Beijing Design Week, and exhibiting at the Capital Museum of Beijing.

In Melbourne he illuminated the Old Treasury Building and Parliament House, and produced Melbourne Green at the Royal Exhibition Building. Partners and grants are listed under Support & grants.
